Melbourne: South Australian quick Peter George has been included in the Australian Test squad for the VB Pakistan Series, replacing the injured Ryan Harris and Doug Bollinger, who was in England as part of the one-day squad, has been added to the Twenty20 squad.
Commenting on George's inclusion in the Test squad, NSP Chairman Andrew Hilditch said: "The unfortunate knee injury to Ryan Harris has seen him ruled out of the Twenty20 internationals and the Test tour against Pakistan in England."
Doug Bollinger has been added to the Twenty20 squad and Peter George has been called into the Australian Test squad.
"Peter George had an excellent Shield season last year and was called up to the New Zealand tour earlier in the year where he impressed around the squad.
"He has followed that with a very impressive bowling performance for Australia A against Sri Lanka A recently and we are confident he will perform well at international level should he get the opportunity on this tour.”
The 203cm pace bowler leaves for England this evening to meet-up with the Australian squad.
The 23-year-old has had a whirlwind 12 months, performing well for the West End Redbacks in the Weet-Bix Sheffield Shield taking 67 wickets in 18 first-class matches at 28.46.
His performances for South Australia were rewarded with a call-up to the Australian Test squad in March on the VB Tour of New Zealand, however the lanky quick is yet to make his international debut.
More recently, George represented Australia A against Sri Lanka A taking 11 wickets in two four-day matches at 15.27 and has been spending his off-season at the Cricket Australia Centre of Excellence in Brisbane as part of the AIS Scholarship Program, headed by Greg Chappell.
