Dubai: Indian opener Gautam Gambhir capped a memorable year by ending it as number one Test batsman in the ICC rankings issued today, while Indian skipper MS Dhoni No.1 in One-day rating.
Gambhir's opening partner Virender Sehwag remained static at number four while Rahul Dravid gained one place to occupy 13th spot.
Sachin Tendulkar lost one place to slid to 17th just a rung above VVS Laxman who gained one spot. Two Sri Lankans - Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara - were in between Gambhir and Sehwag.
There was not much change lower down the batsmen's chart, with West Indian Shivanarine Chanderapul gaining one place to jump to eighth. South Africa's Jacques Kallis and Kiwi Ross Taylor shared joint ninth.
In the bowlers' chart still headed by South African Dale Steyn, Indian off-spinner Harbhajan remained unchanged at sixth while Zaheer Khan lost one place to drop out of top 10. He is now at 11th spot.
England off-spinner Graeme Swann was the biggest mover as he jumped seven places to third place, the highest in his career. The 30-year-old took nine wickets, including a five-wicket haul in the South African second innings, in the second Test in Durban.
In ODI rating master blaster Sachin Tendulkar at No. 4 and his opening partner Virender Sehwag at no. 10, while Yuvraj Singh at No. 9.
