London: England allrounder Andrew Flintoff will help coach the United Arab Emirates cricket team during his rehabilitation from knee surgery.
The 31-year-old Flintoff is basing his recovery program at the Dubai Sports City complex.
"In return he will be carrying out some coaching for the UAE national team over the next six months," Flintoff's agent, Andrew Chandler, told Friday's edition of Abu Dhabi newspaper The National. "There has been good growth in UAE cricket in the last few years and Andrew felt that he wanted to give something back."
Flintoff has effectively become world cricket's first freelance player after rejecting a contract with the England national team.
The England and Wales Cricket Board last week offered Flintoff a second-tier incremental contract following his retirement from test matches, but he turned it down in favor of traveling the world to play for different teams on short-term deals.
