Nottingham: England skipper Alastair Cook won the toss and decided to bat against South Africa in the fifth and final one-day international at Trent Bridge on Wednesday.
The hosts, who lead the series 2-1, made two changes to the side which beat South Africa by six wickets at Lord's on Sunday.
Jonny Bairstow replaced Jonathan Trott, who suffered a hand injury after being hit by a Dale Steyn delivery, while Chris Woakes came in for Steven Finn, who has a back problem.
South Africa also made two changes, with Ryan Mclaren and Lonwabo Tsotsobe making way for Justin Ontong and Morne Morkel.
