Nagpur: England will hope to avoid an upset when they begin their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands in Nagpur on Tuesday. Swann only arrived in India on Sunday after the birth of his first child and could be rested for the clash.
Pace trio Bresnan, Broad and Anderson have all proved their fitness in warm-up games and are likely to play but Yorkshire quick Ajmal Shahzad could also be involved.
After playing in his side's last lead-up match against Kenya, skipper Peter Borren has been declared fit to play. He missed several warm-up matches and did not attend the opening ceremony due to a side strain, but coach Peter Drinnen confirmed he would play on Sunday.
England enter their first World Cup encounter confident, but wary of the talent within the Netherlands line-up.
Drinnen's side embarrassed England in the opening game of the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 tournament at Lord's, securing a famous victory on the last ball of the match.
All-rounder ten Doeschate is the key for the Netherlands and averages a superb 68 in One-Day Internationals. He doubles as a wicket-taker and his obvious talent is why the Kolkata Knight Riders parted with US$150,000 to secure his services for the Indian Premier League.
Others to watch are 21-year-old Kervezee, who is an impressive batsman for English county team Worcestershire and Cooper, who is a promising talent for South Australia and qualifies through his Dutch mother.
But the Netherlands side is made of up of largely part-time cricketers, highlighted by bowler Mudhassar Bukhari's job at Burger King.
They also lack genuine wicket-takers, something which England don't, and Strauss' side will be banking on paceman Broad to continue his hot streak of form, after he snared five-wicket hauls in both warm-up matches against Canada and Pakistan.
England have promoted Pietersen to the top of the order, which gives the flamboyant batsman a chance to stamp his authority from the first ball while Prior, the former opener, has moved down to replace Eoin Morgan as the 'finisher' after the Irish-born batsman suffered a broken finger.
England are red-hot favourites and should have the talent to record a first-up win, but the 6-1 series defeat in Australia and patchy lead-up form means the Netherlands are half a chance.
