Tillakaratne Dilshan made 2009 his own, scoring 10 centuries in all forms, and he didn't start too badly in the new year either, compiling another robust ton to guide Sri Lanka to an easy win in the tri-series opener. Bangladesh gave a good account of themselves with the bat in getting to 260, but their bowlers lost the battle against Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara and the dew.
Sri Lanka complete a convincing 7-wicket win against Bangladesh in the first game of this Tri-nation series. Everything went right for the Lankans in this game. Sangakkara won an important toss, they bowled first knowing dew would be a big factor later-on, restricted the home side to 260 and chased down the target with complete ease in 44.5 overs.
Tharanga (14) departed early but Sangakkara (74) and Dilshan (104) got together adding 148 runs for the 2nd wicket and almost ensuring win for their side before walking back.
Samaraweera unbeaten 41 played a patient innings in the end to see their side through along with Silva (4*). Bangladesh will be quite disappointed with their efforts as apart from Shakib and Razzak, all their bowlers went for quite a few runs, though both
the spinners also couldn't pick up any wickets.
