Hyderabad: A party sans the hosts is not a good feeling. That is a possibility, though, if Deccan Chargers do not get their act together in the crucial Group A match against Trinidad & Tobago on Wednesday. The Chargers must win to survive.
Having left it till very late - not that they had a choice given their last-delivery defeat to Somerset Sabres - the hosts will be wary of the potential banana peels, which, apart from the entertaining brand of cricket played by the outfit from Brian Lara country, includes net-run-rate calculations and the weather.
The West Indian team is on a high following their 44-run win over Somerset Sabres and are level on two points with the English county but with a much superior run-rate of +2.200 as against -1.000. The hosts run-rate is -0.200 but with a break of three days since their first match, they know exactly what it will take to advance to the next round.
"If we win the game we're pretty much through and we take Trinidad with us. It was a big confidence boost for us, the result last night (Trinidad vs Somerset)," said Deccan Chargers' Scott Styris. "The nature of the game is such that we can't take any team lightly."
