Adelaide: Dwayne Bravo's third Test hundred guided the West Indies to 336-6 against Australia in the second Test in Adelaide on Friday.
Bravo along with Shivnarine Chanderpaul (66) rescued the West Indies with a 151-run stand.
Pacers Doug Bollinger (2-42) and Shane Watson (2-42) were the more successful Australian bowlers, while Mitchell Johnson and Nathan Hauritz each claimed a wicket.
After losing Bravo for 104 that comprised of 12 fours and one six, the visitors were bolstered at the end of the day by an unbroken 63-run stand between Darren Sammy and Brendan Nash, both unbeaten on 44.
After electing to bat, the West Indies were in early trouble as Doug Bollinger’s return to the Australian Test side was rewarded with the wickets of opening batsmen Adrian Barath (3) and Chris Gayle (26).
Ramnaresh Sarwan was on way to steady the visitors with Chanderpaul, but a loose drive off Mitchell Johnson lobbed a dolly to Michael Clarke for 28.
West Indies are trailing the series 1-0 after an innings defeat ambush in the first Test.
