Bulawayo: Charles Coventry equalled Saeed Anwar's all-time record highest individual score of 194 as Zimbabwe piled up 312 for eight in the fourth one-day international against Bangladesh in Bulawayo on Sunday.
Coventry's unbeaten innings came from 156 balls and contained 16 fours and seven sixes.
Former Pakistan opener Anwar's record had stood for 12 years, and Coventry equalled the feat with his maiden international hundred.
Zimbabwe, 2-1 down with two matches to play, were hugely indebted to 26-year-old Coventry - with Stuart Matsikenyeri's 37 the second-highest score after the hosts chose to bat first.
Coventry came after Vermeulen falls in 2nd over on Mahbubul Alam. He only managed three singles in the 48th, but a massive six over long-on took him to 191 with the final over still to come. A drive to cover on the first ball took him off strike, and he wasn't back facing the bowling until the last; Malcolm Waller was dismissed off the second and Prosper Utseya facing the next three. Two runs were needed to equal Saeed Anwar's 12-year-old mark, and a tired punch straight past the bowler gave Coventry a share of the record. His final 91 had come off just 43 deliveries.
