Sydney: Michael Clarke is confident of being fit for Australia's one-day tour of India this month despite being sent home from the Champions Trophy due to his ongoing back injury. Clarke has been replaced by David Hussey in Australia's 15-man squad in South Africa but he hasn't given up hope of being back in Australia's plans within a few weeks.
"It's good to be back home now," Clarke told AAP after arriving in Sydney. "It gives me a chance to get my back right and get the treatment I need to get and I'll worry about the future after that.
"I'm very confident, I'm in good hands. I'll get a lot of treatment back home and I'm hoping I'll be right for India. We're confident it is an injury that will heal."
Clarke's back has been a constant source of pain for him over the past couple of years and the problem is at its worst when he has to bend to pick up balls and take up his batting stance. He said it was hard to put a time-frame on his return but he was aiming for the seven ODIs in India starting on October 25.
"For me it's about (doing) whatever I have to do, rehab-(wise) and treatment-wise, to get fit and get onto that tour," he said. Before the latest back problem surfaced, Clarke had already decided against playing for New South Wales in the Champions League Twenty20 in India this month.
