The Champions Trophy will stay in Pakistan, the ICC's board decided on Thursday, while forming a high powered task team to manage stakeholders concern and ensure that all security recommendation are implemented.
Haron Lorgat, chief executive of the ICC, said, "There was a clear recognition by the board that there were some concerns raised in the security report provided in the feedback session in Dubai".
Lorgat conceded that the insistence of the ICC to hold the tournament in Pakistan could cause players to withdraw. "But I think it's something that we can manage by making sure this task team properly communicates with the players who have concerns." If players did pull out the or their respective boards, could face action from the ICC but Lorgat insisted that this was not being conclusion Lorgat conceded, "On issues of security you can't guarantee", but said, "We are confident with the security plays that we could put in place to ensure the safety for the participants."
