Nottingham: Stuart Broad is still set to play for England in the opening one-day international against Bangladesh at Trent Bridge on Thursday, despite the death of his stepmother.
Broad's father Chris, the former England opening batsman turned match referee, said in an International Cricket Council statement issued on Wednesday: "It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my wife, Miche. She has been battling bravely with motor neurone disease for some time now and she unfortunately passed away this morning."
However, Chris Broad stressed his wife wanted the family, including his daughter Gemma - who is a video analyst with the England team - to carry on with their cricket duties.
"It was Miche's wish that, on her passing, Gemma, Stuart and I should continue to fulfill our commitments and, in her honour, we will endeavour to do so," he said.
