Wellington: Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has signed to play for Wellington province in New Zealand's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition this season.
Lee will play five rounds of the 10-round competition while juggling commitments to his New South Wales state side in Australia. The New Zealand tournament runs from early December to early January.
Lee, 33, is pressing to regain his place in Australian limited overs teams after being sidelined for almost six months with an elbow injury. He took 2-37 from 11 overs in a comeback match for New South Wales against Western Australia on Sunday.
Lee joins a number of high-profile signings for the New Zealand competition, including South African Herschelle Gibbs and former Australia teammates Brad Hodge and David Warner.
