London: English county side Hampshire revealed on Sunday they are in talks with Brett Lee about signing the Australian fast bowler.
The County Championship First Division outfit is in advanced discussions with former Test star Lee, who is in Australia's World Twenty20 squad for the competition which begins on April 30.
A statement from Hampshire read: "Following media reports published on Sunday, Hampshire Cricket can confirm that talks are ongoing with Brett Lee about playing for Hampshire this season.
"These talks are at an advanced stage, and we will hope to make a further announcement in due course. Hampshire Cricket will not comment any further at this time."
Lee, 33, took 310 wickets in 76 Test matches before retiring this February in a bid to prolong his one-day career following elbow surgery in December.
Once regarded as the fastest bowler in the world, Lee missed the entire 2009 Ashes series after struggling with a side strain and had not played a Test since December 2008 due to injury.
