Harare: Zimbabwe opening batsman Brendan Taylor has been named captain ahead of the cricket team's Test comeback this year.
The 25-year-old Taylor replaces all-rounder Elton Chigumbura, who resigned in April before briefly overturning his decision.
Head selector Alistair Campbell said on Friday that the board "wanted a guy who is always going to be selected, and Brendan is currently our best batsman."
He added that "it's meaningless to have a guy who is not always going to be in the side."
Campbell was hopeful that Chigumbura, who initially quit the team after a disappointing World Cup campaign in India, will rediscover his form without the pressure of the captaincy.
