Townsville: West Indies made it three wins from three at the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup after posting a six-wicket triumph against Zimbabwe on Thursday.
The losers could never get going and scored just 148-8 from their 50 overs as regular wickets fell at Endeavour Park in Townsville.
West Indies lost two quick wickets in their run chase but steadied, with skipper Kraigg Brathwaite (70 not out) ensuring they finished at 150-4 in the 36th over.
Chasing the paltry score, the winners made a disastrous start as spinner Kieran Geyle (2-28) removed both Sunil Ambris (0) and John Campbell (0) in the second over.
Ambris was well caught at deep square-leg by Ryan Burl before Campbell - from the first ball he faced - wildly tried to hit the ball out of the ground.
He could only get a leading edge and was caught by Luke Masasire at gully as the West Indies slumped to 6 for 2.
Anthony Alleyne (24) and Brathwaite added 44 runs for the third wicket in a stabilising partnership before the former edged to slip off the bowling of Wellington Masakadza (1-31) and although Kavem Hodge (19) also departed, by that stage the West Indies were in control.
With Brathwaite - who hit nine fours in his 114-ball stay at the crease - they always looked safe and although he was dropped by Andre Odendaal on 61, he did not offer another chance.
His nine Test matches of experience shone through in a composed innings as he and Kyle Mayers (30 not out), who swung hard at the end, guided their team to victory.
Earlier, the West Indies made a bright start with openers Ronsford Beaton (1-9 off nine) and Jerome Jones (2-40) doing a superb job with the new ball.
Beaton was again bowling at pace and he claimed the first wicket of the day when a sharp-lifting delivery brushed the gloves of Masasire (two) and was caught by wicket-keeper Ambris.
Just two deliveries later and Jones chimed in when Matthew Bentley (zero) chased a wide ball and edged to Ambris.
The big wicket was that of Malcolm Lake - who hit a terrific 118 against India in his last match - and the Zimbabwean showed his ability to hit with a big six over mid-wicket.
Lake's 45-ball 31 was ended by left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein (2-16) though, when he offered back a simple caught and bowled chance.
And despite the fighting efforts of Nyasha Mayavo (30), Zimbabwe failed to post a score that would trouble their opponents.
