Batting Powerplay to be Crucial in 2010 WC - Kallis

Ahmedabad: South Africa skipper Jacques Kallis on Saturday said the five-over batting power play will prove crucial during the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

"Power Play three is going to be the key in the World Cup. We are coming up with good ideas," Kallis said.

South Africa today took the batting powerplay after the 40th over and Kallis and AB de Villiers scored 44 runs in the five overs, which proved crucial in the end as chasing 365, the hosts were skittled out for 275 in 44.3 overs.

Kallis felt that South Africa were always ahead in the final game and said he was happy to finish the tour on a rousing note though disappointed to have lost the series 1-2.

"A couple of wickets up front helped us. We always felt we were ahead," he said.

"I do see a lot of positives though I'm disappointed to lose the series," he added.

Man of the match de Villiers, who made his second successive hundred in the three-match series, was also happy with the top order batsmen's performance.

"Coming here I said the seniors should step up. The senior boys did very well. I'm proud of our performance," he said, referring to the contributions made by openers Hashim Amla (87) and Loots Bosman (68) who put on 113 in 15.4 overs.

de Villiers scored a double century in the Test played in 2008 at this ground against India.
