Bridgetown: Australia have completed the perfect preparation for the first Test against the West Indies, thrashing a West Indies Cricket Board President's XI by eight wickets in their three-day tour match on Wednesday.
A stunning bowling display on day two set up the victory for Australia, who cruised to their target of 86 in the first session at Three Ws Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
Opener Ed Cowan (28) and Ricky Ponting (23) finished unbeaten as the tourists reached 2-87 in the 23rd over of their innings.
Earlier, Shane Watson (25) and captain Michael Clarke (four) departed.
Ben Hilfenhaus (4-8) and Nathan Lyon (4-17) tore through the President's XI batting order on Tuesday.
Australia had only built a 13-run first innings lead before declaring, but Hilfenhaus and Lyon helped dismiss the hosts for 98 in their second innings.
Watson and Cowan resumed at 0-30 on day three, and the President's XI attacked with very few runs to defend.
Paceman Jason Holder (1-17) removed Watson with the score on 42, while Clarke was gone soon after when he was caught behind by Carlton Baugh off Nkrumah Bonner (1-31).
Ponting was tested by several Holder short balls but comfortably survived, with Cowan hitting the winning runs off Delorn Johnson.
