Aussie Team Surveys DY Patil Stadium

Mumbai: The Australian cricket board officials did a survey of the Dr DY Patil Stadium at Nerul on Wednesday and expressed satisfaction over the cricketing aspects of the venue where the Aussies will play the seventh ODI this winter (November 11) awarded to the Mumbai Cricket Association.

MCA secretary Hemant Waingankar said Steve Bernard headed the team and had with him Paul Murphy, the chief executive of the players association and a security chief.

Waingankar said, "The Aussies also checked out some hotels in the neighbouring area." Teams playing the IPL had to travel all the way from Parel as their hotel, which was part of the package, was based there. There are no such compulsions for the Aussies who would prefer proximity to the venue rather than long travel.

Vijay Patil, president of the DY Patil Sports Association, said, "The Aussies were very happy about the fact that there are some hotels in the area just ten minutes from the stadium. Prima facie they seemed happy, they will send a report to the BCCI and we will work on that."

Patil said the Aussies were also happy to see the state-of-the-art IP security installed at the stadium, the only one of its kind in Indian stadia.
