Adelaide: Australia will look to seal the series at the earliest opportunity against a disjointed and dispirited Pakistan.
After Ashes defeat, Australia beat England 6-1, won the Champions Trophy for the second time and defeated India on their home turf 4-2. Shane Watson has been exceptional with both his bowling and batting over this period, while Cameron White has been the star in the middle and end overs.
Cameron White has been a key man for Australia in the first two games.
After the 3-0 drubbing in the Tests, Pakistan have carried the same lackluster form into the ODIs. The return of Younis Khan and Shahid Afridi was expected to bolster the Pakistani batting but Younis was scratchy in Brisbane and was dismissed for a duck in Sydney.
Team news
Australia are unlikely to make any changes to their winning side unless forced to and the only doubt surrounds Peter Siddle, who reported back soreness following Sunday's win. The Queensland fast man Ryan Harris has been added to the squad as a shadow player and could add to his sole ODI appearance if Siddle cannot play.
Squad (likely): Shane Watson, Shaun Marsh, Ricky Ponting (capt), Michael Clarke, Cameron White, Michael Hussey, Brad Haddin (wk), Nathan Hauritz, Clint McKay, Peter Siddle/Ryan Harris, Doug Bollinger.
Pakistan lost Mohammad Asif to a hand injury sustained while fielding in the first ODI at the Gabba and he was replaced in Sydney by Umar Gul. And now they lost the services of Mohammad Aamer in 3rd one-dayer.
Squad (likely): Salman Butt, 2 Kamran Akmal (wk), Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf (capt), Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, 7 Shahid Afridi, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Umar Gul, Iftikhar Anjum, Saeed Ajmal.
Pitch and conditions
The Adelaide Oval has generally been considered the batting paradise of Australia. However, there have been several low scores during the last couple of matches. The weather should be fine with a high temperature of 33C.
