Bangalore: Rain played spoilsport as the opening match between BSNL and fancied Air India Red in the Sahara BCCI Corporate Trophy was abandoned due to rains with both teams sharing two points each.
Put into bat, BSNL put on a fighting 258 for seven wickets in the stipulated 50 overs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
In reply, Air India Red were 16 for the loss of opener NV Ojha (0) in 2.5 overs when skies opened up and play was not possible thereafter.
Earlier, Openers Arindam Das and BBCC Mohapatra gave a good start to BSNL sharing a 70-run partnership that came in 13.1 overs.
Mohapatra hit 41 in as many balls, studded with six boundaries and one six.
Das top-scored for the side with 82 that included nine hits to the fence. He put on 90 runs for the second wicket with Varun Kumar (49).
Netravalkar and Mangela picked up two wickets each and Kulkarni bagged one for Air India.
