Melbourne: Hard-hitting Victorian batsman Aiden Blizzard will play for South Australia next season after agreeing to terms with the Redbacks.
The 25-year-old signed with the Redbacks on Tuesday and will join former team-mate Rob Cassell in South Australia.
Blizzard appears to be a direct replacement for Mark Cosgrove, who was dumped by the Redbacks along with former Test spinner Daniel Cullen.
"Aiden comes as a very highly-regarded and talented young player, who we are sure will play a strong role in driving the Redbacks' culture forward," SACA director of cricket Jamie Cox said.
The Redbacks saw first-hand what Blizzard is capable of in the final of last season's Twenty20 Big Bash competition.
The left-hander helped Victoria beat South Australia when he hit 42 off just 19 balls to earn man-of-the-match honours.
He was also the player of the final in the 2008 before injury ruined his 2008-09 season.
Blizzard made a successful return last season and featured in all seven of the Bushrangers' Twenty20 matches and a handful of Ford Ranger Cup games, but was unable to break into the championship-winning Sheffield Shield team.
"Aiden has been starved of opportunities in Victoria in recent seasons and whilst he's played starring roles in the Victorians' Big Bash campaigns, he comes to SA eager to prove that he is more than a short-form hitter," Cox added.
We are delighted that he has chosen to seek these playing opportunities with the Redbacks.
