India 174 for 5 (Iyer 62, Rahul 52, Sarkar 2-29) beat Bangladesh 144 (Naim 81, Chahar 6-7, Dube 3-30) by 30 runs
Nagpur: India beat Bangladesh in the 3rd T20I in Nagpur on Sunday to win the series 2-1. Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul were the stars with the bat for India, while Deepak Chahar took figures of 6/7. For Bangladesh, Mohammad Naim was the lone crusader
Deepak Chahar claimed a hat-trick in the last over and took sensational figures of 6/7. These are the best bowling figures in the history of T20Is, breaking the earlier record of 6/8, which had belonged to Ajantha Mendis..
Shafiul Islam gave the visitors the ideal start, scalping the prized wicket of Rohit Sharma in his very first over. He also got Shikhar Dhawan out within the powerplay overs, as India looked to be in trouble.
However, KL Rahul (52) and Shreyas Iyer (62) combined well thereon, putting on a 59-run stand.
Batting at good strike rates, the duo got the Indian innings back on track.
Rishabh Pant (6) disappointed again, while Manish Pandey (22) did well to add some quick runs in the end.
India finished their innings at 174/5, setting Bangladesh a target of 175.
Like Shafiul Islam had done in the India innings, Deepak Chahar rocked the Bangladesh top order early on. His two wickets - Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar - saw Bangladesh reduced to 12/2 in the third over.
Chahar took four more wickets - including completing a hat-trick in the last over - finishing with figures of 6/7.
The second innings was also a tale of a heroic fight put up by young opener Mohammad Naim (81) though, as he plundered the Indian bowlers without much help from his partners.
Mohammad Mithun (27) was the only batsman who gave him support.
Naim was finally bowled against the run of play in the 16th over, getting India into a winning position.
Earlier, Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah won the toss and elected to field first.
