Durban: All-rounder Chris Morris has been recalled to South Africa's limited-overs squad for the tour of Australia, which begins on 4 November.
The series will feature three one-day internationals and a one-off twenty20 International – Morris has been drafted in to play in both the formats.
Morris injured his back during the Indian Premier League 2018 and, since then, has missed South Africa's tour to Sri Lanka and the recent home series against Zimbabwe. The 31-year-old, however, made a strong comeback for Titans, headlined by returns of 6/66 against Warriors in his most recent first-class outing.
Batting all-rounders Farhaan Behardien and Dwaine Pretorius have been recalled to the squad in place of Duminy and Amla.
Imran Tahir wreaked havoc against Zimbabwe, picking up 15 wickets in just three ODIs and one T20I. The 50-over series against Zimbabwe was also marked by the white-ball return of Dale Steyn, who shone with the bat as well as the ball.
South Africa squad: Faf Du Plessis (c), Farhaan Behardien, Quinton de Kock (wk), Reeza Hendricks, Imran Tahir, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Aiden Markram, David Miller, Chris Morris, Lungi Ngidi, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi and Dale Steyn
JP Duminy, who the led the side in the ODIs against Zimbabwe, will be unavailable for the Australian tour as he undergoes surgery for the injury to his right shoulder.
Opener Hashim Amla is ruled out too, as he has been given time to fully recover from the finger tendon injury he picked up during the Caribbean Premier League.
