Dubai: Bangladesh have suffered a huge setback as their opener and senior batsman Tamim Iqbal has been ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup 2018 due to a fractured wrist.
The opener retired hurt during the opening match of 2018 Asia Cup against Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Tamim sustained the injury while attempting a pull shot off Suranga Lakmal. After he was hit, the left-hander went off the field.
Subsequently, he was taken for a scan and the reports stated he has a fracture.
With Tamim out of the tournament, Bangladesh’s chances will suffer a huge blow. The left-hander was in good form and in three ODIs against Windies he scored 130, 54 and 103 respectively.
