Delhi Daredevils 174 for 4 (Pant 64, Shankar 43) beat Mumbai Indians 163 (Lewis 48, Cutting 37, Mishra 3-19, Patel 3-28, Lamichhane 3-36) by 11 runs
New Delhi: Delhi Daredevils have knocked Mumbai Indians out of 2018 IPL with a 11 run victory over the defending champions at Feroz Shah Kotla here on Sunday.
Batting first, the hosts set a target of 175. Rishabh Pant, once again, was the star for Delhi.
In response, Mumbai could only manage 163 after Sandeep Lamichhane and Amit Mishra derailed their innings.
The hosts decided to bat first and they were dealt with two quick blows with the dismissal of their openers but in-form Rishabh Pant steadied the innings scoring 64 off 44 balls.
Pant's dismissal provided no respite for Mumbai Indians, as Vijay Shankar (43 off 30 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (15 off 10 balls) ensured that the Daredevils reached a respectable total of 174/4.
Rishabh Pant scored his fifth 50+ score in 7 innings. He is the only batsman in 2018 IPL with a strike rate of over 150 in all three phases (power-play, middle and death), taking into consideration all players who have faced 50+ balls this edition.
Pant is the Orange Cap holder with 684 runs. He is also the first wicket-keeper to score 680+ runs in a season. Uthappa's 660 in 2014 puts him on the second-spot in the list of most runs scored by a wicket-keeper in a single season
Mumbai started the chase well but Sandeep Lamichhane proved too good for the defending champions.
After dismissing Suryakumar Yadav, Sandeep got the better of Pollard and Krunal Pandya, leaving MI's lower order with a lot of work to do.
He ended with a spell of 4-0-36-3.
Sandeep was well aided by veteran Amit Mishra (4-0-19-3).
Evin Lewis is the 25th stumping off the bowling of Amit Mishra in the Indian Premier League.
