Chennai Super Kings 128 for 4 (Rayudu 32, Dhoni 31*, Umesh 2-15) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore 127 for 9 (Patel 53, Southee 36*, Jadeja 3-18, Harbhajan 2-22) by 6 wickets
Pune: Sensational bowling spells from Man of the Match Ravindra Jadeja (3-18) and Harbhajan Singh (2-22) helped Chennai Super Kings beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets to win on Saturday.
After put into bat, RCB struggled from the very beginning on a slow and tricky pitch. Parthiv Patel (53) and Tim Southee (36*) were the only two batsmen to reach the double figure mark.
After a forgettable last match, Jadeja made amends with a superlative bowling performance as he spun a web around the RCB batsmen.
Supporting him from the other end was the experienced Harbhajan who took the priced wicket of AB de Villiers along with Murugan Ashwin.
In their combined 8 overs, Jaddu and Bhajji had figures of 5/40. If not for Southee's late blitz, RCB would have not even managed a total of 127/9 in 20 overs as they went from 56/2 to 89/8.
Chasing a paltry 128, Chennai lost Shane Watson (11) early as Umesh Yadav (2/15) clean bowled him off a brilliant yorker. But Ambati Rayudu (32) went all guns blazing from the other end.
Suresh Raina (25) perished after a struggling stay at the crease. Chennai made it difficult for themselves as their batsmen threw their wickets away on rank bad balls. But RCB was also helping them mutually with some poor fielding as they dropped Dwayne Bravo (14*) twice.
In the 18th over when Yuzvendra Chahal was brought back into the attack, MS Dhoni took centre-stage and sealed the match with three bludgeoning sixes as CSK reached 128/4 in 18 overs.
