Lahore: Asif Ali, Hussain Talat, and Shaheen Afridi have been rewarded for strong performances in the Pakistan Super League 2018 with maiden call-ups to the national side for the upcoming Twenty20 International series against the Windies.
In the bowling stocks, left-arm seamers Rahat Ali and Usman Khan return to the squad but Imad Wasim and Rumman Raees are still absent through injury.
Batting-wise, Shoaib Malik, who missed the second half of the tour to New Zealand with concussion after being hit on the head by a misplaced throw, also returns to the 15-man squad, but Kamran Akmal, 36, who scored 425 runs in 13 PSL matches, is not included.
The T20I series will be played at the National Stadium in Karachi across three consecutive days between 1 and 3 April in what will be the city's first international since 2009 – and the venue’s inaugural T20I.
Talat impressed in the PSL with both temperament and technique with the bat, while Asif earned plaudits for his big-hitting – he biffed a six-ball 26 in the final.
Left-arm quick Shaheen Afridi, just 17 years of age, took five wickets for four runs in one innings – the best ever figures in PSL history.
