Afghanistan 158 for 4 (Rahmat 56, Jamal 51, Chatara 2-18) beat Zimbabwe 154 ( Ervine 39, Rashid 5-24, Mujeeb 3-45) by six wickets
Sharjah: Rashid Khan produced a match-winning performance with the ball as Afghanistan took a 2-1 lead in the one-day series with Zimbabwe courtesy of a dominant a six-wicket victory on Tuesday.
Afghanistan won the Twenty20 series 2-0 and carried on where they left off in the opening ODI, only for Zimbabwe to level matters on Sunday.
But 19-year-old Rashid furthered his burgeoning international reputation by taking 5-24, the third-best figures of his ODI career, as Zimbabwe slumped to 154 all out.
Rashid removed top scorers Craig Ervine (39) and Sikandar Raza (38) before helping to knock off the Zimbabwe tail, giving Afghanistan a meagre total to chase.
And they managed it in just 27.3 overs, Rahmat Shah (56) and Nasir Jamal (51) doing the heavy lifting with half-centuries.
Afghanistan can clinch the ODI series with victory in fourth match on Friday.
