Mumbai: Virat Kohli was on Friday heralded as the new captain of the Indian cricket team in limited-overs cricket, ahead of their three-match ODI series against England starting January 15.
Kohli's ascension to the leadership post follows MS Dhoni's resignation as the Indian captain in limited-overs format.
The Indian squad was announced at around 4.20 PM IST. The meeting of the Indian selectors was slated to start at 12.30 PM local time, Mumbai.
But drama between the BCCI and the Lodha Committee ensued and it began only after 3.00 PM. According to the BCCI constitution, the selection meeting can be convened only by either the BCCI president or the secretary.
