Trinidad: India lost their top spot to Pakistan in the ICC Test rankings after the fifth day's play of the fourth Test between India and West Indies was abandoned owing to wet outfield at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain in Trinidad on Monday.
India thus won the four-Test series against West Indies 2-0 -- the first time the Indian team won two Tests on a Caribbean tour. India had won the first Test in Antigua by an innings and 92 runs, drew the second Test in Jamaica and won the third Test in Gros Islet by 237 runs.
The match was called off at 09:40 local time on the fifth day which meant that only 22 overs were bowled on day one at the Oval, on Thursday, and after winning the toss, West Indies were placed at 62/2 at lunch when rain first came.
Kraigg Brathwaite (32) and Marlon Samuels (4) were unbeaten at the crease, with Ishant Sharma (1-7) and Ravichandran Ashwin (1-22) the wicket-takers.
The former dismissed Leon Johnson (9), caught at short leg by Rohit Sharma, and the latter bowled Darren Bravo (10) with a beautiful off-break delivery.
