Mumbai: India will play hosts to England in a five match Test series that will begin on November 9. The five match series will be followed by three ODI's and three T20 matches with the tour drawing to a close in early February.
This series will be played immediately after New Zealand's tour of India which starts in September and has the Men in Blue playing three Tests and five ODI's.
This will be the first time since the 1986-87 series against Pakistan that India will be hosting a visiting team for five Tests in a series.
India have never beaten England in a Test series since the 2008-09 home series where Sachin Tendulkar inspired a stunning 387-run chase in Chennai.
Speaking to the press after BCCI's English counterparts, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) released the itinerary, Andrew Strauss, Director, England cricket, hoped that Alistair Cook's men would go on and achieve similar success to what they managed in 2012, when they famously beat India by a 2-1 margin.
Rajkot will play host to the first Test from November 9 followed by Vishakhapatnam (November 17), Mohali (November 26), Mumbai (December 8) and Chennai (December 16).
In between there is a gap of one month with the ODI's starting from January 15 in Pune. The next two ODI's will be played in Cuttack (January 19) and Kolkata (January 22).
For the T20's, Kanpur (January 26), Nagpur (January 29) and Bengaluru (February 1) will be the venues.
