St Kitts: Indians end Day 1 of the first tour game against West Indies Board Presidents’ XI at 258 for 3 in 93 overs at Warner Park.
Rohit Sharma and Amit Mishra were at the crease on 54 and 18 respectively at stumps of the opening day of the two-day match. While three Indian batsmen were retired out, three were dismissed.
Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Wriddhiman Saha were the players who got out on Day 1 of the match. The likes of Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara were retired out after scoring 51, 50 and 34.
On the other hand, the wicket-takers for Presidents’ XI were Jomel Warrican and Damion Jacobs. Warrican picked 2 wickets and Jacob had one to his name.
Rohit who has constantly faced criticism for his Test numbers looked good on Day 1 and he will have to carry the same form in the next innings and also in the second tour game for a position in the playing XI of the first Test, starting July 21.
India decided to rest off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and opener Murali Vijay, both believed to be first team regulars.
