Mumbai: South Africa batsman Hashim Amla has confirmed he will join struggling Kings XI Punjab for the rest of the Indian Premier League season.
The former Proteas captain was reportedly being lined up by the Kings XI as a replacement for Shaun Marsh, whose participation in the tournament was cut short due to a back injury.
Amla, who stepped down as South Africa's Test captain during the series defeat to England in January, on Wednesday revealed that he will make his IPL debut at the age of 33.
He tweeted: "Excited to be with @lionsdenkxip for the remainder of the @ipl. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the support peeps."
Kings XI are bottom of the table after winning only two of their first seven games.
