Sultan Ahmed, the 38-year-old, wicket-keeper and batsman, will lead Oman's 16-member squad at the ICC World Twenty20 2016 in India, it was announced on Sunday.
Oman has been slotted in Group A, and will have to compete with Bangladesh, Ireland and the Netherlands for a slot in the Super 10 stage, where one of the four teams will join Australia, India, New Zealand and Pakistan in Group 2.
The win over Namibia had capped a fine tournament for Oman which included victories against the Netherlands and Afghanistan. Oman will be assisted in its campaign by Sunil Joshi, the former India allrounder, who has joined the team's staff as the spin-bowling coach.
Oman's next international assignment before the ICC World Twenty20 2016 is the Asia Cup T20 qualifier in Bangladesh.
