New Delhi: Justice Lodha Committee's report has recommended a host of reforms for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday. Here are ten of the recommendations:
- Proposes legalisation of betting in India.
- Wants BCCI to come under RTI act.
- Politicians and Government officials cannot hold positions in the BCCI.
- Former IPL COO Sundar Raman given a clean chit.
- Lodha panel proposes the constitution and establishment of a players association.
- Lodha proposes limited autonomy for IPL Governing Council.
- No office bearer can hold office consecutively for two terms, there has to be cooling off period.
- BCCI has to now decide,idea is to keep governance and management separate.
- Lodha panel recommends a steering committee headed by former Home Secy G K Pillai with Mohinder Amarnath, Diana Eduljee and Anil Kumble.
- Lodha panel also recommends an electoral officer who would be nominated at least two weeks before dates of elections.
- Panel recommends separate governing bodies for the IPL and BCCI.
- Lodha Committee recommends relegation of Railways, Services and Universities as Associate members. They also lose voting rights.
- One state, one association with a right to vote. Institutional units like Services, Universities to be relegated to associate members.
- BCCI is a national body. It represents length and breadth of the country and discharges public functions.
- Current BCCI president Shashank Manohar has already started implementing a few proposals.
- Interacted to BCCI office-bearers. Also interviewed six Indian captains, including Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev.
- Punishment and reforms were the main tasks for the Lodha committee.
