Shaun Marsh, Hazlewood help Australia Win Series

Adelaide: Australia won the third and final test against New Zealand by three wickets late on day three at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday, sealing the series 2-0.

Shaun Marsh (49) and Josh Hazlewood (6-70) help Australia win the Adelaide Test with in three days.

Chasing a target of 187, Australia lost seven wickets on day three before they crossed the victory line as Trent Boult returned to form in a superb fashion by claiming a five-wicket haul with the pink ball in their second innings.

Shaun Marsh, who found himself on the receiving end of critics after getting himself run out yesterday, was the top scorer for his side with 49. David Warner had set the tone from the very first ball of the chase and made a solid 35.

Peter Siddle struck the winning runs and was accompanied by injured Mitchell Starc, who hobbled for the second run to steal the win.

Earlier, New Zealand were bundled for 208 in their second innings as Josh Hazlewood, who was adjudged as the Man of the Match, stepped up the attack in the absence of Starc and grabbed a career-best figures of 6-70.

The win in cricket's first day-night test ended New Zealand's run of seven consecutive series without loss dating back to 2013.

Paceman Peter Siddle struck the winning runs before stumps after Australia were set 187 to win by the tourists.

Paceman Josh Hazlewood proved decisive for Australia, capturing 6-70 to limit New Zealand's total to 208 in the third innings.
