India v South Africa, 2nd T20I, Cuttack

South Africa Clinch Series After Bowlers Shine

Cuttack: India's terrible performance with the bat was overshadowed by the disgraceful behaviour of the Barabati crowd in the second Twenty20 International at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack on Monday.

With South Africa 29 runs away from victory, the spectators turned unruly and started pelting bottles on the ground. This caused a break in play as the players went off the field, but they were soon back on.

Ravichandran Ashwin took 3 for 24, in the process becoming India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is. However, there was little resistance from the other Indian bowlers, as JP Duminy again finished things off quite easily. South Africa won by six wickets, and took the series 2-0.

Earlier, India were bowled out for 92 in 17.2 overs by the Proteas. This was India's second lowest score in the T20 Internationals.

Winning the toss and electing to field first, the Proteas made early inroads into the Indian batting line-up with Chris Morris trapping opener Shikar Dhawan LBW in the fourth over.

In the very next over, India was struck by another blow when star batsman Virat Kohli was run out by Morris.

The wickets kept falling at a regular intervals even as Suresh Raina tried to hold one end by scoring 22 off 24 balls.

Albie Morkel was the most successful South African bowler with brilliant figures of three wickets for 12 runs in four overs. Imran Tahir and Morris took two wickets each.
