Melbourne: Former India all-rounder Sridharan Sriram has been appointed as Australia's coaching consultant and will help the side iron out its spin bowling troubles for their upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh.
After receiving confirmation of his appointment, Sriram said it is an honour to work with the Australian team, adding that he is looking forward to sharing his experiences and knowledge with the squad, Sport24 reported.
The 39-year-old said that his aim would be to help the spinner to adapt to changing conditions and to asses the opponent's technique quickly.
Sriram, who had worked with the Australia A side during their recent tour of India , made his Test debut against South Africa in 2000 and appeared in eight ODIs.
He played first class cricket for Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra before moving onto his coaching assignments.
