Colombo: Ishant Sharma claimed five wickets as Indians bundled out Sri Lanka Board President XI for 121 and then increased the lead on the second day of the three-day warm-up match on Friday.
Indians held a commanding 342-run lead after bowling out SLBP XI within 31 overs. Ishant delivered a fiery spell to rip apart the top order and received substantial support from Varun Aaron and Ravichandran Ashwin, who shared four wickets between themselves.
However, Indians didn't enforce the follow-on and went on to construct a big lead as they made 112/3 at stumps, with KL Rahul (47) and Cheteshwara Pujara (31) on the crease.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma again failed to inspire as they fell cheaply on their respective scores of 18 and eight.
Earlier in the day, Indians were bowled out for 351 in their first innings, with Ajinkya Rahane retired out on 109.
India will take on Sri Lanka in the three-match Test series, with the first Test starting from August 12 in Galle.
