Mumbai: Defending Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, will kick off IPL 2015 with a home game against the Mumbai Indians on April 8, 2015.
Along with playing host to the first game, the Eden Gardens will also be the venue for the final of this year’s edition.
60 games will be played in this year’s competition between April 8 and May 24 with no addition of any new teams to the original set of eight that already exist.
However, 3 stadiums have been added to the itinerary. The Sunrisers Hyderabad will play 3 games at the ACA-VDCA stadium located in Visakhapatnam while the Kings XI Punjab will play 3 home matches at the MCA International Stadium in Pune.
The Shahid Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur, which hosted a few home matches for the Delhi Daredevils in the 2013 edition of the tournament, will again be the home stadium for the Delhi-based franchise for two matches.
Rajasthan Royals will once again play their home games at the Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad and another venue that will be confirmed shortly.
