St. John's: Six uncapped players were named in the West Indies' 30-man provisional squad on Tuesday for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand next year.
Left-arm seamer Kenroy Peters, 30-year-old leg-spinner Imran Khan, off-spinner Ashley Nurse, teenage fast bowler Marquino Mindley, left-handeded batsmen Evin Lewis and Jonathan Carter are the new names.
Fast bowler Ravi Rampaul has not been named in the squad. He was part of the squad that withdrew mid-way through their tour of India in October. He had also not found a place in the Test squad that is set to take on South Africa in a three-match series, starting on December 17.
Any hopes of watching Shivnarine Chanderpaul in coloured clothing once again were also dashed as he too didn't find a spot in the probable list. He last played for his country in the quarter-finals of the 2011 World Cup, against Pakistan in Mirpur.
Two-time champions West Indies will play in Pool B at the February-March showpiece where they will face defending champions India, Ireland, Pakistan, South Africa, United Arab Emirates and Zimbabwe.
The squad will be cut to 15 by the deadline of January 7.
