Sydney: Indian team's second warm-up match of the Australian tour has been called off following the death of Phil Hughes.
The two-day practice match was slated to begin from Friday against a Cricket Australia XI in Adelaide.
Hughes died on Thursday after battling a head injury for two days in a Sydney hospital. He was hit by a bouncer during a Sheffield Shield game on Tuesday following which he was rushed to nearby St Vincent hospital.
The cricket world is mourning the death of 25-year-old Hughes who was a leading contender for the first Test against India next week in Brisbane.
The Indian team issued a statement saying "The touring Indian team joins the cricketing fraternity across the world in offering condolences to the family of Phillip Hughes who has departed from our midst. In this moment of grief, we pray that they are bestowed with divine strength to overcome this unfortunate tragedy."
Hughes played 26 Tests scoring 1,535 runs at 32.65 with three centuries and seven fifties.
