Mumbai: KL Rahul and Karn Sharma were the two new faces in India's Test squad, while Suresh Raina and Umesh Yadav were recalled as the selectors named a 19-member squad for the tour of Australia next month.
There was no place for Stuart Binny, Gautam Gambhir, Pankaj Singh and Ishwar Pandey, who were part of the tour of England in July-August.
MS Dhoni has been ruled out of the first Test against Australia in Brisbane after suffering an injury to the right wrist. Virat Kohli will lead the side in the first Test, while Dhoni is expected to return for the rest of the series.
The injury has also ruled Dhoni out of the last two ODIs against Sri Lanka. Robin Uthappa and Rohit Sharma back for final two ODIs.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Delhi pacer Ishant Sharma rested for rest of Sri Lanka series, Vinay Kumar and Kedhav Jadhav replaced him.
