Mumbai: The Indian selectors have named the squad for the final two ODIs and the one-off T20I of the ongoing tour against West Indies.
The 14 players who were selected for the first 3 ODIs have bene retained, while young all-rounder Akshar Patel has been included as the 15th member of the side. The 20-year-old from Gujarat played in 3 ODIs against Bangladesh in June this year, managing to pick up just 1 wicket.
Ravichandran Ashwin, who is considered as India's premier spinner currently, is again absent from the list of names announced by the BCCI. There are reports that he has been rested ahead of the Test series against West Indies and against Australia down under.
In the T20 squad, Manish Pandey, has been included in an Indian squad for the first time. The Karnataka middle-order batsman has won the Ranji Trophy, the Irani Trophy, the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) this calender year.
Stuart Binny, Karn Sharma and Sanju Samson find their names in the T20 squad, having been overlooked for the ODI series.
The ODI series is currently tied 1-1, with the 3rd ODI which was scheduled for today called off due to Cyclone Hudhud. The last two matches will be held at Dharamsala and Kolkata, with the T20I scheduled for Cuttack.
Selectors also name Board President's squad for three day warm-up games against West Indian.
