Dubai: Australia have added allrounder James Faulkner as a replacement for injured Mitchell Marsh in thier Test squad which will take on Pakistan in the UAE later this month.
The announcement was made following Australia's five-wicket win against Pakistan on Friday.
Marsh sustained a hamstring injury during the Champions League Twenty20, while playing for Perth Scorchers in a game against Lahore Lions. Cricket Australia said that although Marsh had resumed jogging, it was uncertain whether he would be able to recover completely in time ahead of the Test series.
The move however, is great news from Faulkner's point of view. The Tasmanian allrounder has been a permanent feature in Australia's limited-overs set-up but has played just one Test - against England at the Oval during the 2013 Ashes.
The Test series gets underway on October 22 with the first match scheduled to take place in Dubai.
Australia Test squad: Michael Clarke (capt), Alex Doolan, James Faulkner (standby player), Brad Haddin, Ben Hilfenhaus, Phil Hughes, Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Steve O'Keefe, Chris Rogers, Peter Siddle, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, David Warner.
