Colombo: Sri Lanka medium-pacer Suranga Lakmal has been ruled out of the two-Test series against Pakistan.
The right-arm bowler has been sidelined following an injury in his left ankle picked during the second and final Test against South Africa in Colombo recently.
The 27-year-old is also a doubtful starter for the three ODIs that Sri Lanka will play against Pakistan. His recovery is expected to take three weeks.
Meanwhile, Sri Lankan team management has decided against naming any replacement for Lakmal in the Test squad. Michael de Zoysa, Sri Lanka's team manager confirmed the news.
Fast-bowler Shaminda Eranga is expecting a place in Lakmal's absence in the ODIs. Eranga is recovering from a hand injury and his availability will depend on how soon he passes the fitness test. Sri Lankan management is expecting him to play the first Test starting on Wednesday at Galle.
