Dhaka: Bangladesh have named a 25-man preliminary squad for their upcoming tour of West Indies in August this year. Among the selected players are 19-year-old pacer Taskin Ahmed and unheralded legspinner Jubair Hossain.
Taskin made his ODI debut in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against India earlier this month impressing one and all. He took a five-wicket haul in his first match, finishing the series with seven wickets in two games - the highest from either side. Whereas 18-year-old Hossain is an Under-19 cricketer who has represented Bangladesh in Youth ODIs apart from appearing in two warm up games of the 2014 ICC Under-19 World Cup.
When Bangladesh last toured West Indies in 2009, they registered their first overseas Test series win by beating the home side 2-0 in a two-match series. The selected players will report to trainer Mario Villavarayen in Mirpur on 1st July. The tour starts with a three match one-day international series from August 20 followed by a lone Twenty20 and two Test matches.
