West Indies v New Zealand, 3rd Test, Barbados

West Indies-New Zealand Look to End Series on a High

Barbados: After three match Test series level 1-1, both teams looks series end with a wining knock in the finale at Kensington Oval starting today.

West Indies come into the decider following a ten-wicket win in Trinidad that leveled the series, but their new captain Denesh Ramdin had words for his team after victory. You can expect the team to come out stronger.

Victory will give the hosts their first Test series win against any side other than Zimbabwe or Bangladesh since 2012, when they beat New Zealand 2-0 at home in a run of six consecutive wins. Since then, the side has nosedived to eighth in the ICC rankings, losing their last two series to India and New Zealand.

Having rallied superbly in Port of Spain after losing the first Test by 186 runs, West Indies will take confidence from the batting of centurion Kraigg Brathwaite and Darren Bravo and Chris Gayle, who smacked a belligerent 80 to hasten victory in the second Test.

Jerome Taylor and Sulieman Benn did well with the ball, and a repeat performance would leave New Zealand needing plenty to do. Taylor, playing his first Test series in four-and-half-years, is the leading wicket-taker so far.

Shannon Gabriel, who replaced Shillingford, was the least threatening of the three West Indian seamers, but he found life on a dying pitch towards the end of the Test. With Barbados likely to have the most pace-friendly conditions, and Shillingford blunted due to the ban on his doosra, Gabriel's case is stronger.

New Zealand have already announced one change to their line-up -- left-arm seamer Neil Wagner will replace legspinner Ish Sodhi.

While he has been in form with the bat, Kane Williamson's action has come under scrutiny during the second Test, he will be allowed to bowl, but the nature of the Kensington Oval track suggests pace will have more of a say.

In that regard, Tim Southee and Trent Boult could do with support from the medium-pace pair of Wagner and Anderson. Ross Taylor and Brendon McCullum have been poor, so getting back to form is imperative.

Rain is likely to all five days, but if forecasts are to be believed the weather will not disrupt the Test too much. Kensington always has a little bit in it for the bowlers as well.
