Ahmedabad: Delhi Daredevils' IPL 7 performance, and on Thursday night all of that was on show for DD as they crashed to a 62-run loss against Rajasthan Royals at the Sardar Patel Stadiumi in Motera, Ahmedabad on Thursday
If giving away 201 runs after winning the toss was not enough, DD batsmen reached new lows posting 139 for 9.
JP Duminy (8), the best DD batsman in IPL 7, had a rare off day getting caught at point off a wide delivery from Tambe. Only Manoj Tiwary managed to stick around for a bit, top-scoring with an unbeaten 61.
Ajinkya Rahane led the RR charge with a 50-ball 64-run knock, ably supported by Sanju Samson (40 off 25 balls), Kevon Cooper (32 off 16 balls) and James Faulkner (23 off 8 balls), taking their team to a formidable total of 201 for 6 in 20 overs.
Chasing the big total, DD found themselves at 34 for 2 in the Powerplay. In comparison, RR were 52 for 1. By the time they reached 10 overs, they were already out of the match managing 62 for 5. RR were 86 for 1 at that stage.
Rahane scored his third fifty of tournament in 50 balls and played the sheet anchor's role to perfection. Along with Samson, the Mumbai batsman put on 74-run stand for the third wicket in just 39 balls.
Cooper, who was promoted up the order at number three after the fall of Karun Nair in the sixth over, had earlier handed RR the momentum clobbering 32 off 16 balls before being scalped by JP Duminy.
Earlier, Delhi Daredevils have won the toss and have opted to field in match no. 41.
